Psychodynamic Psychotherapy is a talking therapy that helps gain a deep understanding of oneself and of how one relates to others and the world. Through the understanding of each person’s inner world as well as their external reality, patterns of behaviour can be thought of and new, creative solutions can emerge.
The therapeutic process does not offer advice, provide answers or instructions. It is about working together to understand your needs and help you make your own creative choices. By exploring your emotional life and how you relate to others, the impact of feelings that one may or may not be aware can be understood and foster change.
The process usually begins with one or more initial consultation meetings where we can gather a sense of what it is like to work together, and decide about on-going therapy.
Psychotherapy sessions typically will last 50 minutes. Because it is a therapeutic process, and the time it takes depends on the individual circumstances, it can vary from many months to several years.
I offer both long-term and brief psychodynamic psychotherapy in safe and confidential consulting rooms in London. Most therapy is in-person, but online is also possible.
